Manama is the capital and largest city of Bahrain, with an approximate population of 157,000 people. Long an important trading centre in the Persian Gulf, Manama is home to a very diverse population. After periods of Portuguese and Persian control and invasions from the ruling dynasties of Saudi Arabia and Oman, Bahrain established itself as an independent nation during the 19th century period of British hegemony. It has many places of interest.

La fontaine centre of contemporary art is a museum and historical monument dating back to a hundred and fifty years, located in the heart of Manama, the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is named after Jean de La Fontaine (1621–1695), a French writer who wrote fables that made him famous throughout the world. The museum is situated close to the old “Suq” ‘market’. The centre is the only one of its kind throughout the Middle East, revered by all as a masterpiece of architectural and artistic glory, which makes it a special haven for architectural appreciators.
It has been completely restored and renovated by French artist Jean Marc Sinan, who transformed a beautiful residential house into a distinctive, exceptional centre for art and leisure enthusiasts alike.
La fontaine centre features a number of contemporary art galleries, an open-air amphitheatre, and an exquisite fine dining restaurant, an exclusive spa, and a modern Pilates & Dance Studio, the first of its kind in the Gulf region.
The property, belonging to the Alireza Group of Companies, is very unique as it captures the grand essence of a European chateau, while retaining the charm of the fine, authentic Gulf Islamic architecture.
